The story begins in a theatre with the unexpected arrival of a new ambitious cabaret singer. The resident artists are not amused and give her a cold and suspicious 'unwelcome'.

When the women are forced into factory labour they eventually become united but by their sadness and loss.

Just as hope is fading an announcement on the radio brings life to their dreams and it is time for the cabaret show to begin.
